Rampage

The Rampage crew are a legendary DJ's behind the even more legendary sound system from London England which every year dominates the Notting Hill Carnival.

Founder of Rampage DJ Mike Anthongy started DJ’ing at 15 years old when he met DJ Richie P. They teamed up and did house parties in the beginning wherever they could get a gig. There was a break for 3 years when he moved to Switzerland. It was there he became a professional. Mike signed up with Music Service Agency and worked in a record shop for his Uncle, a musician, who is like a father to him and after 3 years he returned to the UK wanting to bring his 3-year experience home.

They would guest on other sound systems and quickly realised they needed to set up their own. Like Uncle who had already established “Rapattack” in the 80’s, DJ Mike Anthongy also wanted a name as cool? Just one word, with a meaning, a style and a logo. Rampage was born at a house party in Golders Green.

The line was Rapattack and Rampage! One name, own style! Multi-genre was the backdrop with seamless mixing across the different styles of music. All DJ’s would learn ALL styles of black music and learn to deliver in any environment at any time. All within 3 years. Rampage had arrived! By 1998 BBC London came knocking and with the guidance of Ray Paul their next chapter was written. Launching BBC 1Xtra the first national black music station in 2002 cemented our name in History. Around this time Rampage founded their world famous stage at the Notting Hill Carnival, Rampage didn’t know what to expect in their first year, but was completely blown away. 10000 revellers turned up and the Music model I had dreamed of started to become a reality. Sean Paul, Shaggy, Buju Banton performed. MC Skibadee launched from our stage. It’s all about breaking new ground and creating a legacy! It became the award-winning Rampage Sound System, following star-studded shows in the past from the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Ms Dynamite and Tinie Tempah.
