51st State Festival Partners With Mind

With our line-up of house music heavyweights and disco divas, 51st State Festival is set to the party of the year. We want all our guest to forget their worries and immerse themselves within the good music.

That being said, we know that once the crowds disperse, the staging is taken down and the party’s over for another year that everyday life can be tough. We know that a quarter of people in the UK will experience a mental health problem every year - we also know that only 1 in every 8 adults in England and Wales suffering from mental health problems are currently receiving treatment for it. These statistics are deeply concerning - and motivated the 51st State team to once again partner with ‘Mind’ as our official charity for the second year running.

‘Mind’ does vital work every day in supporting and providing advice to people across the UK suffering from mental health problems. Their campaign work raises awareness of the important issues to the people that matter the most - and their network across the UK of 139 ‘Local Minds’ reaches nearly 400,000 people each year. Furthermore, their helplines deal with over 50,000 enquiries each year - and their important work with over 7,000 employers nationally ensures that people are healthy at work as well as in their personal lives.

In short - their work is invaluable.

Last year, with your help, we raised an amazing £12,000 for the charity. This money went directly to services that improved the lives of people in our local area - and this year we want to raise even more.

This year, the Mind in Haringey team will be on site at 51st State offering Laughter Yoga sessions, Face Painting, Relaxation, Massage and asking for contributions to the Mind in Haringey ‘How Do You Feel’ board, as well as providing information, guidance, advice and signposting! They’ll also be working alongside 51st State and Housefm.net in the run up to festival to help raise awareness and tackle the stigma attached to mental health.

To offer your support, head over to mindinharingey.org.uk where you can give as much or as little as you can. Any donation is greatly appreciated - and will go directly to the services of those who need them the most.
